MTNL Mobile Number Portability (MNP) Process

Mobile Number Portability is the process by which, you can shift to another operator of your choice, while retaining your old number. Say goodbye to inflated billing, call drops and substandard network and switch to MTNL for transparent billing, state of art 3G networks, most economical tariffs and best customer care. Customer of any Mobile Service provider of any circle can be ported in to MTNL Mumbai or Delhi. any Mobile Service provider of any circle can be ported in to MTNL Mumbai or Delhi.

Steps to move to MTNL:

Step 1: At the first, you need to generate UPC (Unique Porting Code) which is an alpha-numeric 8 digit code which is given by your existing operator to switch to another operator. SMS to be sent to 1900.

PORT ‹ Space › ‹ Mobile Number ›  and send it to 1900.

E.g. if your mobile number is 93xxxxxxxxx, then PORT 93xxxxxxxx

Step 2: After sending SMS to 1900, you will receive UPC (Unique Porting Code) as a SMS from 1901 giving 8 digit alpha-numeric Unique Porting Code (UPC) and UPC expiry date in MM/DD/YYYY format. The first two characters of the UPC code consist of ‘Alphabets’ and remaining 6 digits will be numerical characters, except zero.

Step 3: Visit your nearest MTNL Customer Service Center (CSC list link)

Step 4: Fill Mobile Number Porting (MNP) form and Customer Agreement Form(CAF), Along with Address & Identity proof documents, self-attested photo.

If you are a postpaid subscriber, submit a paid copy of the last bill issued along with Porting Form and CAF.

Step 5: You will get a New SIM, please retain it.

Step 6: MTNL will send an SMS on your existing/old operator’s SIM mentioning the porting date and time.

Step 7: There will be 2 hour ‘no service period’ which will begin after the porting time as given above. This ‘no service period’ will be in most of probability between midnight 12 AM to 6 AM. This ‘ no service period’ is the time in which service will not exist from any operator, i.e., ‘donor’ or ‘receiver’.

Step 8: Replace the old SIM with MTNL SIM after the No Service Period and your MTNL service starts.
